FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Do we need a visa for Italy?

U.S. citizens do not need a visa for tourist stays of up to 90 days. Italy is in the Schengen area, so passports must be valid for at least three months after the date you leave Europe. Passport and entry requirements remain the responsibility of each traveler.

Is there a dress code?

Yes, for St. Mark’s, the Vatican and most churches: shoulders and knees covered for everyone. A light scarf is the easiest answer.

Can our group choose its own dates and change the itinerary?

Yes. Every expedition is built for one group, on that group’s dates. The ten-day route on this page is our standard, and groups often add Pompeii or the Amalfi coast.

How much walking is there?

A good deal. Venice is on foot, and Assisi, Siena and Perugia are built on hills. Comfortable shoes make each day easier, and our guides set the pace for the group.

What is generally not included?

Travel insurance, lunches, drinks at dinner, personal expenses, and the cost of meeting any national entry requirements. Anything not listed as included can be quoted for your group on request.
