A wooden boat on the Sea of Galilee

For pastors and ministry leaders

Lead an Expedition

It costs you nothing to lead

You invite your people. We handle the itinerary, the pricing, the hotels, the flights, the registrations and the payments.

The offer

What leading an expedition involves

Five things worth knowing before you read anything else.

It costs you nothing to lead.

No deposit, no financial guarantee, and no invoice if the group comes in under target.

You travel free.

Your place is earned by the group you bring, and it comes from our suppliers rather than from what your travelers pay.

No financial risk if it does not fill.

If the group does not reach its minimum, final payments are never collected and deposits are returned.

We handle every detail.

Itinerary, pricing, hotels, flights, guides, registrations and payments.

You can raise funds for your church.

We can build a fundraising amount into the price, and it comes back to your church or ministry. Doing it at all is your call.

How it works

How it works, start to finish

Most of the pastors we travel with had never organized a trip before their first expedition. This is what the process looks like.

  1. 1

You tell us what you have in mind

A destination, a rough month, or only a sense that your church would like to go. We tell you honestly what is realistic for your group size and budget before you commit to anything.

  2. 2

We build the itinerary with you

You know your people. If your group wants to worship at the Garden Tomb, be baptized in the Jordan, or travel at a pace that works for older travelers, we build it that way. You approve it before anything is booked.

  3. 3

We price it and send your proposal

That includes your complimentary places, which are earned by the group you bring and come from our suppliers. You know exactly what you are working with before you announce anything.

  4. 4

    We produce the promotional materials

A flyer, a trip page and a registration and payment portal for your travelers. However you reach your people, from the pulpit, the bulletin, email, social media or the radio, we give you what you need.

  5. 5

    We handle the travelers

Registrations, questions, rooming lists, payment plans, passport questions and the phone calls. Your job is to invite people. Ours is everything after that.

  6. 6

A tour director travels with your group

Your group is accompanied by a Christian Expedition tour director and licensed local guides. If something goes wrong, it is ours to solve, not yours.

Who does what

What we handle, and what you handle

What Christian Expedition handles

  • The itinerary, built around your dates and your people
  • Pricing, and the complimentary places your group earns
  • Hotels, coaches and licensed local guides
  • Flights and group air contracts
  • Registrations, rooming lists and payment plans
  • Passport and documentation questions
  • A tour director with your group on the ground
  • 24/7 emergency support while you are traveling

What you handle

Inviting your people.

That is the whole list. Promotion is the part that decides whether the trip happens, and it is the part only you can do.

The practical part

How your travelers register and pay

No money moves through the church. Each traveler books with us directly and pays us directly.

What each traveler does

  • Registers from your trip page using Reserve Now, which opens our reservation system.
  • Pays a $450 deposit at registration, of which $200 is non-refundable, then the balance 90 days before departure.
  • Chooses a departure airport for the group flights, or books their own flights and pays the ground-only price.
  • Receives the group’s flight schedule digitally and in the mail about 30 days before departure.

What this means for you

  • You never take a check, hold a deposit, or chase anyone for a balance.
  • There is no list of who has paid what to keep. Our reservation system is the record.
  • When someone brings you a payment question, give them our number, (877) 234-3002, and they get the same answer we would give you.

Before you ask

Common questions

What does it cost me to lead?

Nothing. You travel free, the place is earned by the group you bring, and there is no deposit or financial guarantee from you.

What if my group does not fill?

No money is lost, by you or your travelers. We do everything we can to make the trip happen, and if it cannot, deposits are returned.

How far in advance should we plan?

The earlier the better. Most groups start eight to thirteen months out, and waiting is the most common mistake we see.

How many travelers do we need?

Most of our groups are between 20 and 50 travelers, and we can arrange smaller groups as well. Tell us your size and we will build for it.

What if I have never done this before?

That is where most of the pastors we travel with started. We walk you through every step, and you can call and talk it through before committing to anything.

Can I see the trip before I lead it?

Yes. Our pastors’ familiarization trips let you travel the route first, and the cost is refunded if you go on to lead a group of 20 or more within 18 months.

Can we raise funds for our church through the trip?

Yes. A fundraising amount can be built into the price of the trip to support your church or ministry.
