The coast, Galilee and Jerusalem
Ten days from Jaffa and Caesarea to the Sea of Galilee, Masada and the Dead Sea, ending in Jerusalem and Bethlehem, with the Scripture read where it happened.
Churches traveling with us now. Each group travels on its own dates and its own version of the route.
The expedition follows the land in the order the Bible tells it: the coast where the Gospel turned toward the Gentiles, Galilee where Jesus taught, the Jordan Valley and the Judean wilderness, and Jerusalem, where it all comes together.
Up the coast to Caesarea and Mount Carmel, across to Nazareth and the Sea of Galilee, then down the Jordan Valley to Jericho and Jerusalem.
From Jerusalem to Ein Gedi and Masada on the Dead Sea, and to Bethlehem.
One night in the Tel Aviv area, two at the Sea of Galilee and five in Jerusalem.

Days 1 – 2

Day 1
Our journey begins as we depart the United States for our overnight flight to Israel. Dinner and breakfast will be served during the flight.
Day 2
Our guide meets us at Ben Gurion Airport. If time allows, we stop first in the ancient port of Jaffa, where Peter received the vision of Acts 10 on the rooftop of Simon the Tanner’s house, the turning point when the Gospel began moving out to the whole world.
Dinner and overnight in the Tel Aviv area.
Days 3 – 4

Day 3
At Caesarea Maritima, Herod’s coastal city, we recount the story of Cornelius and trace Paul’s journeys west. On Mount Carmel we stand where Elijah confronted the prophets of Baal. In Nazareth we climb the Mount of Precipice above the Jezreel Valley, then pass through Cana on the way to the Sea of Galilee.
Dinner and overnight at the Sea of Galilee.
Day 4
We see the 2,000-year-old Galilee boat, then sail the lake ourselves. We reflect on the Sermon on the Mount at the Mount of Beatitudes, visit Capernaum and Tabgha, and stop at the Jordan River, where those who wish may renew their baptismal vows, before Magdala.
Dinner and overnight at the Sea of Galilee.
Days 5 – 6

Day 5
We follow the Jordan Valley south to Beit Shean, the leading city of the Decapolis. Near Jericho we visit the Tel of Jericho and the site associated with John the Baptist’s ministry, then Qumran, where the Dead Sea Scrolls were found, before going up to Jerusalem.
Dinner and overnight in Jerusalem.
Day 6
A cable car carries us up to Masada, Herod’s mountaintop fortress and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. At Ein Gedi we visit the oasis where David hid from King Saul, then have free time on a Dead Sea beach.
Dinner and overnight in Jerusalem.
Days 7 – 10

Day 7
We visit the City of David and the Pool of Siloam, then the Southern Wall excavations and the Temple steps. In Bethlehem we begin at the Shepherds’ Fields, where the angels announced Christ’s birth, and visit the Church of the Nativity.
Dinner and overnight in Jerusalem.
Day 8
From the Western Wall we ascend the Temple Mount, then visit St. Anne’s Church and the Pools of Bethesda. The Mount of Olives gives us the whole Old City at once. At the Israel Museum we see the Second Temple model and the Shrine of the Book, and we close at the Upper Room.
Dinner and overnight in Jerusalem.
Day 9
We walk the Palm Sunday Road down to Gethsemane, visit the house of Caiaphas and Ecce Homo, and follow the Via Dolorosa to the Church of the Holy Sepulcher. We close at the Garden Tomb, with time for quiet reflection and worship.
Your flight home may depart late tonight or the following day. If the following day and an overnight is required, overnight in Jerusalem.
Day 10
Your flight home may depart the previous night or today. If today and time allows, breakfast is included today. Either way, later today we will arrive back home.
