Should I tip in dollars or local currency?

Local currency is preferred, whether shekels, Jordanian dinars, Egyptian pounds or euros, because guides and drivers can use it straight away. Dollars are still appreciated if that is what you have. The amounts we suggest are in U.S. dollars, so convert roughly to the local equivalent and pick up smaller notes once you arrive.
