Our tour begins this afternoon, at 2pm*. We will visit D.C.’s World War II Memorial, dedicated to Americans who served during the Second World War. The Memorial is situated between the Lincoln Memorial and the Washington Monument and contains 56 pillars which reprent the U.S. states and territories. We visit the Washington Monument, taking time for a group photo, before moving on to the White House (exterior views only), the home of the U.S. President since John Adams took up residence there in 1800. We enjoy a night tour of Washington, D.C., to include the Lincoln Memorial, the Vietnam Veterans Memorial, and the Korean War Veterans Memorial. Overnight Washington, D.C. Area.
*Note: The tour begins in the afternoon, at 2pm, in order to allow students and families to arrive in D.C. Students and families coming from certain cities may need to depart on the previous day in order to arrive in D.C. by the start of the tour.
Today we visit the U.S. Capitol Building, enjoying time at the Visitor’s Center, the Crypt, the Rotunda, and the National Statuary Hall. We also visit the Library of Congress and U.S. Supreme Court Building (external views only). We explore the area of the Tidal Basin, a reservoir between the Potomac River and the Washington Channel which each spring serves as the focal point of the National Cherry Blossom Festival. We visit the Franklin Delano Roosevelt Memorial which commemorates both FDR and the era of American history during which he was president, the Martin Luther King, Jr. National Memorial, and the Jefferson Memorial. We will also visit the National Archives, the home of the Declaration of Independence, Constitution, and Bill of Rights. Overnight Washington, D.C. Area.
Today we visit the Smithsonian Museums at leisure, which include the National Museum of American History, the National Museum of Natural History, the National Air and Space Museum, the National Museum of African Art, and the National Museum of the American Indian. Overnight Washington, D.C. Area.
After breakfast we visit Arlington National Cemetery, a military cemetery where dead from America’s wars and conflicts, beginning with the Civil War, are buried. We visit the gravesites of John F. Kennedy and Jacqueline Kennedy, where an “eternal flame” burns. We visit the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier and witness the Changing of the Guard. The Tomb of the Unknown Soldier is a monument dedicated to U.S. service members who have perished and whose remains have not been identified. The changing of the guard takes place every half hour. We stop for a photo at the Marine Corps War Memorial, which honors members of the United States Marines who have given their lives for their country since 1775. The statue here depicts the raising of the American flag on Iwo Jima. From this memorial we enjoy also a panoramic view of the Lincoln Memorial, the Washington Monument, and the Capitol building. This marks the end of our tour, and students and families will head to the airport for their flights back home.*
* Flights back to home cities should depart no earlier than 5pm EST.
We work with airlines on booking group flights from anticipated departure airports. This allows us to get the best rates to fly you and the rest of the group to and from your destination. Group air contracts do not allow deviations, date changes, or upgrades, and in some cases issuing tickets at individual rates may be necessary.
Select your preferred departure airport during registration. If you don’t see your preferred airport listed, please select “send me a flight quote”.
The flight schedules will be provided to you and the rest of the group 30 days before the trip.
If you have booked airfare through us and would like to apply your Known Traveler Number (for TSA PreCheck) and/or your CBP PASSID (for Global Entry), you may provide it to us during registration. Forgot your KTN? Retrieve it here: https://tsaenrollmentbyidemia.tsa.dhs.gov/ktn-lookup
We cannot book your airfare using earned frequent flyer miles or airline vouchers. However, if the airfare we book for you coincides with an airline you are a member of, we are happy to apply your frequent flyer # to your booking for any mile accrual (if applicable).
You are always welcome to arrange your own flights. Arranging airfare on your own gives you the ability to spend personally-earned airline miles for your ticket, handpick your seats, upgrade directly with the airline, or deviate from the group in other ways.
Please be aware that if you choose to arrange your own airfare you will be responsible for meeting with the group
